Studying bacterial pathogens on BMG LABTECH readers

Andrew Roe is professor of molecular microbiology at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. His work is mainly focused on bacterial pathogens, the different sites of the body where they cause infections, and the genes that are involved in this process.

Andrew´s group has a VANTAstar, an Omega and an old FLUOstar OPTIMA. This legacy model has been in use for more than 18 years and has proven to be very reliable.

The microplate readers are mainly used to study genes in a single bacterial cell with gene reporter assays, and to validate whole genome RNA sequencing or qPCR. In addition, drug delivery into whole cells is performed with the injectors.
